Tour Overview
Set out on a grand high-altitude pilgrimage trek to the sacred glacial lake of Mani Mahesh, situated at an altitude of 4,080 meters (13,500 ft) right beneath the formidable, unclimbed peak of Mount Manimahesh Kailash (5,653m) in Chamba district. Held in immense reverence by Lord Shiva devotees across the globe, this holy 5-day Yatra combines rich local traditions, ancient temple heritage, and awe-inspiring Himalayan alpine scenery.
The expedition commences in the historic town of Bharmour (ancient Brahmpura), home to the 1,400-year-old Chaurasi Temple complex comprising 84 stone shrines. Before embarking on the trek, pilgrims hike up to the Bharmani Mata hilltop temple to seek customary permissions as prescribed by local tradition.
The trekking trail starts from Hadsar, winding alongside the roaring Gauri Nallah stream through pine forests, cascading waterfalls at Dhancho, and alpine meadows towards Gauri Kund. Reaching the crystal-clear waters of Mani Mahesh Lake on a clear morning rewards pilgrims with the miraculous view of sunbeams illuminating the peak of Mount Kailash.
Accompanied by seasoned local mountain guides, sturdy tented accommodations, warm meals, and comprehensive logistics support, this 5-day pilgrimage promises an unforgettable spiritual adventure in the high Himalayas.
